I have a small shop vac and it works just fine , keep the hose between the vac and the dust collector short unless you have a powerful vac . it saves on Vac bags also does two job's at once , a Vac for getting rid of the shaving's on the Lathe and shop floor , plus the sanding dust . so far very happy :-)
